Citrulline combined with malic acid creates citrulline malate.

The amino acid citrulline is found in watermelon (Citrullus lanatus), while malic acid is an organic acid that is abundant in nature (e.g. in fruit).

Many proteins containing citrulline and both ingredients are key mediators in metabolic cycles. The integration of L-citrulline has been shown to be beneficial in increasing blood levels of arginine (as well as citrulline) available for nitric oxide synthesis. as well as for other functions with which it is connected.

When arginine, due to its increased availability, is converted into nitric oxide, it causes a vasodilator effect, stimulating the cardiovascular system and improving the reflex elasticity of blood vessels.

Nitric oxide-induced vasodilatation is used by doctors to treat mild erectile dysfunction, and by athletes to improve their performance by increasing the blood supply, so that more oxygen and nutrients are delivered to the tissues involved in the work.
