Phospholipid iron is a supplement based on LIPOFER™, a ferric pyrophosphate compound that uses phospholipid carrier technology, i.e. it is embedded in a phospholipid membrane, a kind of protective “shell” and, compared to other oral formulas, enables better gastrointestinal absorption with greater bioavailability of the precious mineral with lower incidence of side effects.

Under normal conditions, generally only 15-20% of iron given orally is absorbed, due to the inherent limitation of the availability of specific carriers at the duodenal level, therefore it is useless (and almost harmful) to increase doses, because when the transport capacities of the carriers are saturated, only an increase in unwanted effects.
